#ISL11: SINGLE PARENT CLOSE TO VICTORIA

I’m a primary health care provider and single parent with three kids (16, 12, and 10) and a friendly dog with us 50% of the time, week on week off. I’m looking to co-purchase a home with someone who values stability, community, and mutual support over purely transactional living arrangements.

I’m especially interested in co-owning with someone older who hopes to age in place. I’m open to a variety of arrangements including a shared home, separate suite, detached studio, or multigenerational setup. Given my background in health care, I’d also be open to discussing practical support and care-in-place arrangements over time if that became important.

I envision a home with a shared yard and garden space, somewhere peaceful and green that doesn’t feel like city living while still being very close to Greater Victoria and amenities. A move-in ready property is important to me, as I’m hoping to create stability for my children without taking on a major renovation project right away.

I love gardening, cooking, being outdoors, and creating spaces that feel calm, welcoming, and lived-in. I value kindness, honesty, reciprocity, inclusivity, humour, and clear communication. I tend to be community-minded, dependable, and practical, while also appreciating creativity, quiet, and connection.

I’m not currently a property owner in BC and would be purchasing as an owner-occupier. I will require a mortgage and can contribute a substantial down payment. My ideal timeline is now or within the next several months for the right fit.

I’m ultimately looking for more than just shared housing. I’m hoping to build a sustainable and supportive home environment where everyone has autonomy, privacy, and a genuine sense of belonging.
